“Strong & Free” — Hand Screen-Printed Wood Artwork
“Strong & Free” is an original artwork, hand screen printed in a single colour on an 8 × 10 inch wood canvas in Vancouver, BC.
This piece pays homage to Canada’s diverse landscapes and the people who shape them — a visual interpretation of “The True North strong and free.” At the centre of the composition is a large maple leaf containing a distinctly Canadian landscape.
Within the maple leaf, a winery and rolling fields appear in the lower right, while a national park stretches across the water to the left. On the lake, figures paddle a canoe and sailboats move across the water, with a lighthouse perched on a small island nearby. A cozy cabin sits among evergreen trees beside a cascading waterfall, with a long dock extending into the lake. In the distance, an old-growth forest stands “on guard for thee,” framed by a dramatic Canadian mountain range.
At the base of the maple leaf are two native Canadian flowers — Canada Anemone and Bunchberry, Canada’s national flower — grounding the piece in both nature and symbolism.
Each print is hand screen printed, signed, and dated, then finished with a protective varnish for longevity and UV resistance. The wood canvas gives the artwork a clean, modern presence suitable for display without framing.
